About
Daniel Escamilla

Daniel is an artist from Covina, California (Not West Covina).  His art career started with photography, but than through his exposure to other mediums while attending Citrus College and CSU San Bernardino, his practice evolved to incorporate videography, graphic design, 360 panoramic virtual tours, animation, and glassblowing  other mediums.  Daniel is very passionate about the work he produces as a solo artist and as an employed artist. This passion drives his creativity and willingness to be open to new opportunities of ideas, experimentation and discovery.

Attending Citrus College, he had opportunities to work on several marketing projects by invite from Amanda Keller Konya for Citrus College. These projects consisted of photographing the music recording studio with the use of photographic techniques like panoramas, HDR imagery and studio lighting techniques. He also photograph Melissa Manchester and Barry Manilow as they produced the song, "Me and My Gal" featuring Barry Manilow, at the Citrus College music recording studio. Professor Konya also influenced Daniel to pursue opportunities with the printed news media on campus, The Clarion and Logos Magazine.  This led to working with Evan Solan, currently the art designer for The LAnd magazine.  The work produced for these publications led to winning 2nd place in the category “Magazine Photo” and Honorable Mentioned in “Magazine Photo Story Essay”. The program at Citrus College built a strong foundation in his understanding of the art of photography and design.

Upon Graduation from Citrus College he transferred to CSU San Bernardino. Professor's and peers both influenced his perspectives and the use of art mediums. To support himself he found employment as a student assistant for RAFFMA, Robert and Frances Fullerton Museum of Art.  There he learned how to produce content in a Designer role.  Video production and editing, 360 virtual tours, live streaming, photographing events, and graphic design where all skills learned and strengthen through program at RAFFMA. This opportunity gave him the experience of being part of a production team at a professional level.

During his time in college Daniel interned at Vertigo USA Inc as the photographers assistant which was the same role for his internship with AS by DF. The duties consisted of aiding in prepping product to be photographed, post production of the photos, photo manipulation, studio lighting set up and techniques. During the summer, he was accepted into the summer internship program at Basic Space. With another intern, they would prep the clothes prior to the photoshoot, than photograph them using lay flat technique and mannequins to produce the ghost mannequin effect, which can be seen online with fashion companies like Alpinestar.  Daniel also interned at The Little Gallery of San Bernardino, TLGSB, located in Downtown San Bernardino.  There he learned how to produce projects similarly to the ones he did at RAFFMA, but as both the Director and the Designer.  The projects had little direction from the co-owners, which led to much creative freedom as long as it did not jeopardize the integrity of TLGSB in the eyes of the public.

Recently Daniel’s had the opportunity to work on a government funded project where he documented the production of the project. Under the guidance of Photographer and Professor Tom McGovern and Juan Delgado a Poet and at one time Intern Provost of CSUSB the production of videos, student projects, 360 virtual tour to digitally house all the student projects that would than be embedded onto a website.

Currently, he has graduated from CSUSB with his Bachelor's of Fine Arts and works as an Artist Assistant for Professor Mizz Conchi Sanford as well as his continual volunteer at The Little Gallery of San Bernardino
